5 salt in 8tock falling short. The recent reduction on the 15th
6 June 1894 ofthe price of Sambhar salt from eight to four
7 -annas a maund will check. Didwana sales in 1894-95 to the
8 extent probably of not less than two lakhs of maunds compared
9 with the year 1893-94. Meanwhile the season for manufacture
10 that has just ended has been satisfactory, and at the close of
11 June 1894 there are not less than 33 lakhs of Didwana salt in
12 store. The quantity of salt that was : brought to stock (maunds
13 63,475) cost pies. 7°53 a maund for manufacture and storage
14 combined,
15 During the year nine heaps of salt were cleared by sale,
16 and in seven of them excesses aggregating maunds 26,802
17 were discovered, while in two others deficits to the extent of
18 maunds 242 were found. The net excess found amounts to 5°44
19 per cent. The Deswals or manufacturers received the price
20 of excesses and madé good overpayment on. the deficits dis-
21 covered.

46 increased owing to the large quantity of salt sold on the:
47 through-traffic system, upon which a fee of three pies per maund
48 for filling, loading and consigning is charged, from Rs. 3,046
49 to Rs. 13, “ABD. The net revenue “of the source is Rs. 26 Az, 528
50 against Rs. 7 95,679 in the previous year—an increase of
51 Its. 18,51,849.
