7 production of crude and refined saltpetre in the works and re-
8 fineries up-country and in Calcutta has been already explained,

43 The quantity of salt issued and expended is less than in
44 1892-93 by 113 maunds 32 seers. The quantity on which re-
45 funds were actually paid in the year is less by 94 nrrunds and 3
46 seers, and the amount refunded is less by Rs. 255 and 3 annas.
47 The quantity of soap manufactured is less by 1,504 maunds 11
48 seers. These results are said to be due to the opening of a branch
49 factory at Calcutta. The salt used is rock salt obtained from
50 the Warthganj dept at Khewra on the through-tratlie svstem.
