8 Wadhwon, Tonk, the margin have ceded to the British Government full jurisdiction with-
9 Lakhtar, Indore. in the lands which lie within their respective States, and are occupied, or

11 Baroda, Butlam, Railway, and by the Rajputana-Malwa Railway System (including

16 Swohi, Jhind, spectively (including the lands occupied by stations, out-buildings, and
17 Meywdr, Dujana. for other Railway purposes): In exercise of this jurisdiction, and of
18 the powers conferred by sections 4 and 5 of the Foreign Jurisdiction and Extradition Act, XXI of
19 1879, and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor General in Council is pleased
20 to direvt that the Police Act, ITI of 1888, shall be in force throughout the lands aforesaid.
21 This notification supersedes the notification of the Government of India in the Foreign Depart-
22 ment, No. 1384-I., dated the 29th March, 1889.

24 No. 4., dated the 6th January, 1891.—In supersession of Home Department Notification
25 No. 217, dated the 12th April, 1889, and with reference to Foreign Department Notification
26 No. 4308-I., dated the 18th December, 1890, the Governor General in Council is pleased, in exercise of
27 the power conferred by section 2, sub-sections (2) and (2), of the Police Act, III of 1888, and of all
28 other powers enabling him in this behalf, to create a general police district embracing all the lands
29 for the time being occupied by the Bombay, Baroda and Central India men and by the Raje
30 utana-Malwa Railwa pn (including the Holkar State Railway, the Sindhia-Neemuch State
31 ailway, the Neemuch-Nasirabad State Railway, the Rajputana State Railway, the Western Raj-
32 putana State Railway, and the Rewari-Ferozpur State Railway, but excluding the Cawnpore-
33 Achnera Railway), respectively, all lands occupied by stations, out-buildings, and for other Railway
34 purposes being included, and to direct the enrolment under Act V of 1861 of a police force for
35 service therein.
36 The Governor General in Council is also pleased to appoint the Governor of Bombay in Council
37 to discharge within the general police district aforesaid the functions of the Local Government under
38 Act V of 1861, the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1882, and any other enactment relating to police for X of 1882.
39 the time being in force in the lands aforesaid or in any part thereof.

42 2. Under the provisions of section 2 (2) of Act III of 1888 and section 4 of Aot V of 1861, the
43 Governor in Council is pleased to appoint the Inspector-General of Police, Bombay, to be Inspector-
44 General for the new Police District, and is further pleased to empower all existing subordinate
45 Police-officers of the District to continue the exercise of their functions under the said Inspector-
46 General of Police,
