4 Notification declaring Laws in force, and providing, for Executive, Judicial and
5 Police administration. 4
6 No. 1007=I., dated the 18th March, 1884.—Whereas e * *
7 =) + (1) His Highness the RAj& of Nabha and the Nawab of
8 Pataudi have ceded to the British Government full jurisdiction within those portions of land which
9 lie within their respective States, and are occupied, or may be hereafter occupied, by the Railways
10 seb ere in the Rajputana-Malwa Railway System,(?) including the lands occupied as stations,
11 out-buildings, and for other Railway purposes: In exercise of this jurisdiction, and of the powers
12 conferred by sections 4 and 6 of the Foreign Jurisdiction and Extradition Act, 1879, and of all
13 other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor General in Council is pleased to provide as
14 follows for the administration of justice within the aforesaid portion of land :—

16 ITI. (2) Alllawa for the time being in force in the Gurgaon District of the Panjab are hereby
17 extended to the portion of the aforesaid land which lies in the States of Nabha and Patandi,
18 (2) The Deputy Commissioner of the Gurgaon District, and the Commissioner of the Delhi
19 Division, and the Lieutenant-Governor of the Panjab, for the time being, shall respectively exercise,
20 within this portion of the aforesaid land, the same executive powers as they may respectively exer-
21 cise within the British territories subject to their administration.
22 (3) All British Courts clipe jurisdiction within the Gurgaon District shall exercise the same
23 jurisdiction within this portion of the aforesaid land.
24 (4) Within this portion of the aforesaid land the administration of the Police shall be vested
25 in the Superintendent and an Assistant Superintendent of the Police of the Rajputana-Malwa
26 Railway System. These officers shall exercise respectively the same Police powers as may be exer-
27 cised by District Superintendents and Assistant District Superintendents of Police under any law
28 for the time being in force in the Gurgaon District, in subordination to the Deputy Commissioner
29 of the Gurgaon District and the Inspector-General of Police in the Panjab. (5)
30 IIT. This Notification supersedes the undermentioned Notifications of the Government of India
31 in the Foreign Department :—

38 Jeypur, His Highness the Mahdardjé of Kishengarh, His Highness the Mahdrdjé of Bhartpur,
39 ts Highness the Maha Réo Raja of Alwér, His Highness the Rajé of Nabha, and His Highness the
40 Nawab of Pataudi have granted to the British Government full jurisdiction within those portions of
41 land forming the Rajputana (State) Railway (including lands occupied as stations, out-buildings,
42 and for other purposes connected with the Railway) which lie within their respective territories :
43 In exercise of such jurisdiction, and of the powers conferred by sections 4 and 5 of Act XI of
44 1872(6) (The Foreign Jurisdiction and Extradition Act, 1872), the Governor General in Council jg XI of 1872.
45 pleased to notify as follows :—
46 (1) On all salt imported, whether before or after the date of this Notification, into any of the
47 aforesaid portions of land without payment of duty, and which, after one month from the date of
48 this notification and from the date of importation, has not been moved in a manner permitted by
49 Notification No. 193J., of this date, a duty of Rs. 2-8 per maund of three thousand two hundred
50 tolas shall be levied ; and in calculating the amount of such duty, fractions of quarter maunds shall
51 be reckoned as quarter maunds.
52 (2) When duty has become payable upon any salt under this Notification and has not been
53 paid, any officer empowered in this behalf by the Commissioner of Inland Customs may declare
54 such salt to be forfeited to Her Majesty :
